Description
The MultiPlus-II 2x 120 V is the mobile, single-unit solution for North American standard 50 A 120/240 VAC split-phase applications. Whether powered from the grid or from a generator, the MultiPlus-II 2x 120 V can accept and passthrough (the inverter/charger is on, but the inverter component is disabled, so power comes from the AC input) the two lines of a 120/240 V supply, with the ability to use the full 50 A to charge and provide AC to the loads. When connected to a 120 V single-phase supply, the L1 input of the MultiPlus-II 2x 120 V will accept incoming power for load and passthrough, while combining the L1 and L2 outputs for 120 V single-phase on each line.
The MultiPlus will switch to inverter operation when no AC source is available. The inverter output is also 120 V single phase. In inverter mode, the MultiPlus-II 2x 120 V connects both L1 and L2 lines internally to provide 120 VAC to loads connected to either output. Therefore, in all connection cases, both sides of a distribution panel will receive 120 VAC. However, 240 VAC is only available when the MultiPlus is powered by a 120/240 VAC split-phase source. This prevents heavy loads such as water heaters or 240 V air conditioners from discharging the battery.
